About this Course

This one-year part-time honours degree course is free of charge to individuals who meet the Springboard criteria. Employed persons can also take the course as fee paying learners. The fee is €3600 and it can be paid in two equal instalments in January '18 and in May '18.

The Bachelor of Business in International Business has an external focus where Learners are exposed to key knowledge and skills that are essential for enterprises that trade internationally.

Graduates have a range of international business know-how, the cultural awareness capability and the talent to support exporting companies. The course provides an integrated view of business situations and gives graduates a deep knowledge and understanding of the theoretical frameworks and practical techniques of international business and management. It enhances self-awareness and transferable, intellectual and employability skills to gain employment at the appropriate level in an organisation. Work placement is a key feature of the course.

Objectives

The programme provides a mix of modules designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of graduates so as to enable them to be competent and prepared for employment at entry and middle ranks of business and management within various industrial, commercial and service settings.

Entry Requirements

Those eligible for entry onto the course are required to have a level 7 business qualification or a level 8 qualification with relevant experience in any other discipline or equivalent.

Also, the programme seeks to facilitate entry to all those with approved prior experiential learning i.e. knowledge and skills acquired through life, work experience and study not formally attested through formal certification as per QQI Policy on Prior Experiential Learning.

Dorset College prides itself on its open and inclusive atmosphere and on the academic and pastoral supports it provides to all its students. Furthermore the College has a number of specific initiatives available to Springboard students to maximise their job readiness upon graduation.

Access to a dedicated Springboard Employer Liaison Officer for one-to-one meetings, where career option assessment, mock interviews, CV preparation and cover letter advice are all offered. Jobseekers workshops will be available to each Springboard class group. These workshops will cover career planning, interview preparation and skills, networking, the use of Social Media, CV preparation, cover letter writing, etc.

Dorset College will offer free advertisements to prospective employers and these advertisements will be forwarded to Springboard Learners who can access from computers available in college as well as their own smartphones.

Our dedicated Springboard Employer Liaison Officer will offer specific career advice as s/he will be in regular contact through e-mail with Springboard students advertising any upcoming events/vacancies especially relevant to this cohort of students.
