Long Description

The Food and Beverages sector in Ireland remains highly competitive within the manufacturing sector employing directly and indirectly over 230,000. There is significant optimism about the Food & Beverages sector as reflected in the Governments 2015 launch of Food Wise 2025 aiming to add a further 23000 jobs to the Food Agri Sector by 2025. To gain this competitive advantage the sector needs to attract more multi-skilled graduates.

This MSc in Food Business Management and Technology will allow Business/Science/Engineering/Quality graduates to gain an in-depth knowledge of food processing, food science, R & D product development, global supply chain, business management and sales and marketing. It will enable participants to develop, though structured hands-on learning and on-line lectures, professional and technical competencies in food manufacturing and business methods and problem solving skills necessary to work effectively in a quality driven sector.

The programme combines a blend of Food Science, Manufacturing and Food Business modules giving graduates an opportunity to develop their careers in management/supervisory roles in the growing sector. Accredited by ITT Dublin, this 12- month course is delivered by experienced lecturers from industry supported by academia. With on-line delivery of lectures this programme offers great flexibility to participants.

This programme was rolled run under Springboard 2015 to unemployed Business, Science and Engineering graduates. While completing the MSc, 81% of these graduates successfully transitioned to employment in companies such as Dawn Meats, Dairygold, Valeo Foods, Cordelia Foods, Pfizer, Truly Irish, Barr an Uisce Whiskey and agencies such as Teagasc and IBEC. Roles ranged from Quality Manager, QC Analyst, Logistics Co-ordinator, Technical Manager, Process Improvement Technologist, New Product Development Technician and Marketing Executive.

This success is underpinned by the Innopharma strategy that has been key to supporting over 2000 students into Manufacturing and Business roles since 2010. Megan Kelly, former student who gained employment as a Food Technologist while completing this MSc:

"The course content was varied and interesting delivered by industry experts. Throughout the year the lectures were so approachable and genuinely invested in the success of their students. I have never experienced this degree of dedication from lectures elsewhere.

The format of the lectures and labs at evenings and weekends was both accommodating and flexible to entering the workforce. The most rewarding part for me was the accomplishment combining of working full time and studying during the evening and weekends was challenging yet very rewarding and hopefully will stand to be as I progress throughout my career. I would advise anyone entering this situation to time manage extremely well and communicate with your lectures.

I would highly recommend the Innopharma MSc in Food Technology and Food Business Management to any determined individual looking to ascertain a unique combination of skills to stand out in today competitive jobs market."
