About this Course

The course would particularly suit anyone who has already worked in an information technology role and who now needs to update or up skill in order to access current job opportunities. There is a skills gap in Ireland and internationally for Data Scientists with Computing and Business Intelligence skills. This add-on degree specialisation, designed in consultation with major IT Companies such as SAP, IBM & Microsoft develops a unique mix of Computing, Business Intelligence and Data Science skills to address this gap. In addition to the common computing core you will learn, Statistics & Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analysis & Programming, Business Intelligence, Social Media Analysis & Visualisation, Data Mining and Intelligent Agents for Knowledge Discovery.

Entry Requirements

Participants on this course must have a minimum level 7 award with competence in statistics, IT and scripting/ programming.
Applicants require a level 7 award in computing or equivalent in a cognate area.

Long Description

This add-on BSc degree in Computing with Data Analytics includes new modules in the area of Data Analytics based on industry requirements. The Department of Computing in IT Tallaght has uses cloud technologies and academy materials from industry providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Intel, SAP and Tableau.

The report by the EGFSN/Forfas Assessing the Demand for Big Data and Analytics Skills in Ireland 2013-2020, forecasts a continuing strong demand for data analytics and related skills across the economy. Companies envisage that they will continue to need to recruit both experienced individuals and new graduates in these areas in the future.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from this course have went on to pursue roles as data analysts, data visualisation specialists, business intelligence specialists, cloud architects, support specialists, QA consultants, database administrators, web developers managers with such companies as SAP, Microsoft, IBM, Fidelity, Openet, Ergo, SalesForce and Bank of Ireland.

RPL Information

Recognition of Prior Learning at ITT Dublin. The RPL process will enable Springboard participants to build on their existing skills and competence. The Institute is aware that many Springboard applicants will have a range of knowledge skills and competence that they have developed through their life and work experience and that are not necessarily accredited. ITT Dublin has an RPL process in place that recognises both the accredited and experiential learning of an individual. ITT Dublin will work with Springboard participants to identify their existing skills and competence and to award them credit for their learning however it has been acquired. This will ensure that Springboard participants will have the opportunity to gain credit for both their accredited ad experiential learning and can tailor their programme to complement existing skills and knowledge and to develop new skills to support future years
