About this Course

This online two year part-time Higher Diploma in Cloud Computing aims to develop students both technically and personally and produce focused graduates of high academic and practical standards to match the needs of both the Irish and international IT industry. It will also meet the needs for IT infrastructure and support roles in a broad range of other sectors.

The programme will be delivered exclusively online using CIT's state of the art e-Learning system. Labs are hosted 24/7 on CIT's world-class private cloud infrastructure. During the first year students will be immersed in a broad set of modules in the fundamentals of computing covering: Object Oriented Principles, Requirements Engineering, Network Systems, Operating Systems, Data Management Systems and Server-Side Web Development. In the second year the focus will be on developing Cloud Infrastructure skills. Students will learn about the Virtual Datacentre and the required composite skills to create a Virtual Datacentre.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a level 8 degree in any discipline or a level 7 degree along with relevant experience. You will also need an underlying aptitude to undergo an intensive program of study to acquire industry-relevant ICT skills at level 8 of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Persons meeting the entry criteria are eligible regardless of employment status. Those in receipt of jobseekers payments are not eligible for the two-year part-time ICT conversion courses. Please see the eligibility criteria on www.springboardcourses.ie for further details.
