Our part-time blended Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and builds creative confidence alongside practical skills to validate a business idea or to transition to an alternative career path. Our 'secret sauce' lies in the creation of a hands-on, action-oriented learning experience that does not rely on 'chalk & talk'. Objectives

Develop a mindset that enables you to realise your career aspirations (creative confidence & entrepreneurial thinking, resilience and growth mindset);

Hone and develop a skill set that all entrepreneurs need and employers value (creative thinking, collaborative problem solving, communication & presentation skills, team working & networking skills);

Solve current real-life challenges for industry partners (e.g. AIB, Abbott, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, Bord Na Mona) and apply learning & tools to your own entrepreneurial project;

Acquire a toolkit that helps you to validate and execute new ideas using key business tools and frameworks, including Design Thinking, Value Proposition Design and the Lean Start-up Methodology;

Work in multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to new perspectives and alternative skill sets;

Learn from entrepreneurial practitioners who have ‘walked the walk’ and gain access to the Innovation Academy’s team of ‘Tech Fellows’ and prototyping facilities;

Build a network with a global community of innovators and entrepreneurs who have the skills to lead change in organisations and start new ones.

Entry Requirements

If you do not have the required documentation (e.g. academic transcripts) to hand, you may still begin an application to this course and upload these documents at a later point.

1. Applicants must satisfy Springboard's requirements to be eligible for funding.

2. Applicants must submit original transcripts of a minimum of an Honours degree, in any discipline (NFQ level 8 or equivalent). All applicants are required to provide an up-to-date CV. In the absence of a degree, 5+ years of relevant work experience may be considered under UCD's Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Applicants who do not have an honours degree may apply on the basis of their work experience.
Such applicants must submit their CV and any transcripts, certificates etc.

In order to support your application under RPL, we strongly recommend that you review your CV with the following in mind:
1. Demonstrate where you have shown leadership and self-direction
2. Describe management or entrepreneurial experience
3. Describe responsibilities in the areas of eg. employees, budgets, clients

This course is delivered by an experienced team of entrepreneurs and industry practitioners from the financial services, ICT, hospitality, creative industries and social enterprise. The course content is grounded in academic rigour and has adapted best practice from leading educational institutions globally to the Irish context.

For the blended components of the programme, students will have access to UCD Innovation Academy’s bespoke online learning platform, which has been used by 650+ UCD students and industry partners to date. The course will be offered over 12 weeks part-time (mornings only and blended) to accommodate potential schedule constraints faced by homemakers and those in self-employment.
