About this Course

The pandemic has created a whirlwind of change for organisations of all sizes and across all sectors and it has never been more important for organisations to possess the necessary skills to adapt appropriately to this change. We delivered this programme with 2021 Springboard+ funding and achieved 100% recruitment and retention rates.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Change develops learners personal, professional and academic needs and enhances their ability to facilitate transformational learning and change within an organisational context. This reflective course will enable participants to augment their leadership skills and identify opportunities for change within the workplace.

This programme focuses on your personal, professional and academic development needs and your ability to engage in transformational learning and change. The programme has been designed to help you develop your skills and become a better leader. You will learn how to recognise and apply the theories related to effective management, leadership, and change management.

Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, interactive sessions and role playing; directed reading, which will involve reference being made to course texts, journal articles and websites; web-based discussion forums and activities; personal development planning related to personality profile analysis; researching and compiling individual presentations for contribution to group discussions to stimulate action learning.

The programme has been designed to help you develop your skills and become a better leader. You will learn how to recognise and apply the theories related to effective management, leadership, and change management.

As part of the programme, participants will:
• Learn how to recognise and apply the theories related to effective management and leadership, and change management
• Develop an understanding and apply the transference of skills and knowledge into the workplace
• Learn how to recognise, reflect and act upon a range of feedback and use this effectively to engage in a structured programme of self directed learning

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of 2.2 degree in a related discipline or where an applicant does not possess a minimum of a 2.2 degree in a related discipline, they must be able to demonstrate substantial professional experience in a related area.

Long Description

The Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Change, offered by Chevron College in conjunction with its academic partner, the University of Sunderland, focuses on participants personal, professional and academic development needs and their ability to engage in transformational learning and change.

This programme has been designed to assist participants with developing skills to become better leaders. Participants will learn how to recognise and apply the theories related to effective management, leadership, and change management.

The informative live webinars (7pm-9pm every Tuesday and Thursday) will aim to develop participants’ ability to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management to complex issues, both systematically and creatively. Participants will attend 5 interactive group sessions (Saturdays). These sessions facilitate discussion and debate and promote the transference of skills and knowledge into the workplace and explore the workplace of the future, with guest lectures contributing to these important workshop sessions.

Over the duration of the programme, the teaching and learning methodologies are designed to encourage a greater independence in participants for taking responsibility for their own learning.

The balance of lectures and workshops, the multi-functional Virtual Learning Environment (i.e. discussion forums), and self-directed study requirements, all contribute to the development of effective independent learning practices. In addition, guest speakers, study advisors, employment support and master classes engage participants in activities that contribute directly to improving their career prospects.

Participants will be assessed by assignment and will draw upon the learning gained through the module and their work-based development. There are two parts to the assignment (narrative report and a body of work), which are designed to evaluate participants’ professional and practical development journey.

Chevron will provide access to a dedicated studies advisor for the participants on this programme. In addition to assisting participants with the onboarding process and any technical issues that may arise during the programme, the Studies Advisor will conduct an individual Digital Skills assessment at the start of the programme. If the studies advisor identifies any skills gaps, a Personal Digital Action Plan will be devised for each participant, which will identify the supports needed to bridge the skills gaps identified.

The job readiness component of the Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Change is contained within the Leadership and Change module. This will include CV preparation, mock interview and development of a Linked in profile.
