This one and a half year part-time PostGradute Diploma in Cybersecurity aims to develop students both technically and personally and produce focused graduates of very high academic and practical standards to match the needs of both the Irish and international IT industry and the ever-expanding vacant roles in Cybersecurity. The Postgraduate Diploma programme consists of the taught modules in the Masters in Cybersecurity, which we have been running since 2016 and is delivered both online and in campus.
The graduates from the Masters and PostGraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity are in very high demand, and all are in employment shortly after graduating. Indeed, if we could produce more graduates, we are of the opinion that they would also be employed. There are over 1 Million open positions in Cybersecurity worldwide that are not being filled because the experts do not exist, and the expanding Cybersecurity industry here in Ireland needs graduates to fill vacant roles.
Participants should ideally have an Honours award in a level 8 Bachelors in a cognate discipline, and have a good knowledge of Computer Networking. Every applicant will be individually assessed.

The programme was developed in conjunction with the local Cybersecurity industry, many of whom were invited to a meeting in MTU, where a proposed draft of the programme was discussed. The programme is technical in nature, and hands-on skills are emphasised. It is aimed at graduates with an Honours award in a cognate discipline, who have a good knowledge of Computer Networking. Graduates form the programme will have the option of paying the fee for the project/thesis module (COMP9021), and thereby pursuing the Masters in Cybersecurity, should they choose to do so.
Graduates from the Masters in Cybersecurity are employed in organisations such as Sophos, Dell, TCS, IBM, TikTok, AT&T, Servicenow, Accenture, Trend Micro, Bank of America, Bank of Ireland, eSentire, Forcepoint, Verizon, Arista Networks, FireEye, Trellix, McAfee and AWS.
The programme will be delivered online using MTU's state of the art eLearning system. Labs are hosted 24/7 on MTU's world class private cloud infrastructure and on CyberRange. During the programme, students will be immersed in a broad set of modules in the area of Cybersecurity covering Offensive Security, Network Security & Forensics, Security Risk and Compliance, Incident Response & Digital Forensics, Scripting for Cybersecurity and Applied Cryptography.
Please note this is an intensive part-time programme run over one and a half years. It will be very demanding and will require significant commitment from all students. However, at the end of the course you will have acquired an excellent, industry recognised qualification. More details are available at the MTU Computer Science website (http://cs.cit.ie).
