About this Course

This course was developed in partnership with the Fintech Expert Group of the Compliance Institute (formerly The Association of Compliance Officers Ireland) to address the challenges of the changing nature of the risk and compliance function in an increasingly digitized operating environment.

This course offers the dual accreditation - the accreditation is both a Minor Award (from Technological University Dublin) at Level 7 on the NFQ, and a professional designation from the Compliance Institute.

The evolution of technologically driven innovation in financial services (Fintech) presents new challenges for the contemporary compliance function.

This course will provides students/graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to execute and scale risk and compliance functions in an environment of increasing partnerships in the financial services sector.

The course syllabi specifically addresses the challenges facing the compliance function in a technologically innovative environment over the coming years Risk and Compliance professionals are core to the financial services industry, and current demand, in a very competitive marketplace, is being driven by a variety of factors including new (post-Brexit) entrants, and a constantly evolving regulatory environment.

Developed in close collaboration with a diverse range of industry practitioners, domain experts, specialist recruiters and recruitment agencies, the course focuses on addressing the significant demand for risk & compliance professionals with the skills to evolve in an increasingly Fintech driven operating environment.https://www.irishjobs.ie/Risk-&-Compliance-Jobs

As one example, the recent Lincoln Recruitment Specialists “ Back to Future survey noted (p.34) commented (p.35), As 2021 ended with very high levels of recruitment activity, we are fully expecting 2022 to be an exceptionally busy year across the Risk & Compliance professions with demand continuing to soar.

More strategically, the Ireland for Finance Action Plan 2022 also specifically notes this growing demand: The performance of our fintech sector in what was a very challenging year in 2021 demonstrates that the strong finance and technology sectors we have provide us with the solid foundations for a vibrant fintech sector that blends technology and financial services.

Further to this, this course directly addresses the actions related to two of the five themes in the Action Plan, namely: Theme Two: Fintech & Digital Finance and Theme Three: Diversity & Talent.

Evidence of cohorts of learners with demand for the course can be provided by the successful recruitment (90-100 currently enrolled) for the Diploma, the active engagement with industry - https://fintech.pat.edu.eu/associate-faculty/ - and the professional designation offered to graduates by the Compliance Institute.

Learners represent the transition to a more diverse regional and national base of financial services providers, and include more traditional financial services professionals looking for opportunities to leverage their transferable skills to transition into risk & compliance roles.

The course also, critically, provides the opportunities for returners to the workforce, and those recently made redundant in the downsizing of the domestic banking sector, with the opportunity to demonstrated work based skills and competencies, and new entrants to the financial services industry.
