About this Course

Unfortunately, terms such as phishing, piracy, the dark web, online scams and cyber fraud have become familiar to both the general public and businesses alike. This programme will develop graduates that are skilled in the latest cybersecurity techniques and technologies. Graduates will be able to propose solutions to solve some of the most pressing issues in cybersecurity that enhance both privacy and trust in ICT systems.

Industry Focus
The programme has been developed looking at the needs of industry. A focus of the programme will be on areas where the greatest skills gaps exist in cybersecurity within Ireland such as cloud security, incident handling and regulatory compliance. This MSc in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Trust is built on the foundations of successful partnerships with local and regional companies during the development since 2016 of the Department of Computing’s highly successful undergrad programme the BSc in Cybercrime and IT Security

Entry Requirements

A second-class honours level 8 primary degree in Computer Science or cognate discipline that contains significant computing elements (e.g. programming, networking, operating systems).
• Applicants who do not meet the above standard entry requirements will also be considered if they have an undergraduate degree (at Level 7 or higher) and a minimum of 3 years verifiable relevant industrial experience. Shortlisted applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements will be invited for interview.
· EU and International graduates whose qualifications which are in line with the Bologna agreement or the international NARIC system for Level 8 comparison.
· International learners must have an English Language score of 6.0 IELTS or an equivalent score in a recognised English language test.

Long Description

Programme Information
The modules of Security Management and Compliance; Network and Cloud security; Advanced Incident Response; and Penetration Testing will focus on developing keys skills to enable graduates to become Security Analysts, Security Engineers, Penetration Testers and Security Managers in the Cybersphere. The programme will introduce students to innovative ways in which privacy and trust can be established via the Cryptography and Blockchains and Distributed Ledgers modules. Students will develop applications that will provide solutions to create a more trustworthy cyberspace. The Research Methods and Dissertation modules will provide students with the opportunity to complete a piece of either research based work or an industry motivated dissertation. A typical dissertation will comprise a business, technical and ethical component. The technical component will be industry aligned and give the students the chance to produce a major dissertation and an implementation in many areas of Cybersecurity.
