About this Course

This Special Purpose Award in Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain Management is an industry focused level 8 programme. Students gain valuable knowledge and skills in key subject areas which are pertinent to working in highly regulated and automated manufacturing and distribution environments such as Global Supply Chain Management, Transport Planning and Logistics, Strategic Procurement Management, International Supply Chains in the Customs environment and Lean Supply Chains. Integral elements of this one-year Springboard programme are blended delivery involving online delivery of some modules. These have been specifically identified in the Future Skills Needs of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Ireland as key to supplementing supply chain technical skills.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of a Level 7 Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, or equivalent. (Examples of equivalence: a degree holder in business or engineering disciplines with substantial experience in logistics/supply chain management in the Biopharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical sector).

Suitably qualified applicants who have been out of the work environment for a number of years due to childcare or other caring obligations and have a previous history of employment but may require upskilling, reskilling or cross-skilling to transition back to the workforce (“Homemakers”) are most welcome.

Long Description

This Special Purpose Award in Biopharmaceutical Supply Chain Management is an industry focused level 8 programme. Students gain valuable knowledge and skills in key subject areas which are pertinent to working in highly regulated and automated manufacturing and distribution environments such as Global Supply Chain Management, Transport Planning and Logistics, Strategic Procurement Management, International Supply Chains in the Customs environment and Lean Supply Chains. Integral elements of this one-year Springboard programme are blended delivery involving online delivery of some modules. Graduates of level 7 programmes in supply chain management have shown particular interest in enhancing their knowledge of issues such as the strategic management of global logistics with particular reference to the Biopharmaceutical industry. CIT believes this course will also be sought after by traditional Springboard applicants wishing to enhance their skills, homemakers returning to the workforce who wish to work in a vibrant, high-demand discipline, and those already working in Supply Chain in the pharma industry who wish to upskill.

This one-year programme is open to suitable engineering or business graduates with a minimum level 7 qualification. There is a strong pipeline of Biologic manufacturing plant capital investments. Biologics manufacturing activity here is the fastest growing sector of the Biopharma industry. Ireland is developing into an important supply chain hub for the Biopharma industry. This programme addresses the requirements for improved skills capabilities in support services including logistics and supply chain management.
