About this Course

Programme aims:
1.to develop skilled Data Analytics graduates with the technical background, knowledge and adaptability to design and develop scalable, robust solutions to a range of problems.
2.to produce graduates equipped with core skills in essential data analytical tools and data analysis methodologies.
3.to provide an environment in which the student is exposed to new data analytical developments and to ethical and social issues related to the data analytical profession.

Objectives

Programme Objectives:
•to develop graduates that have a broad knowledge of data analytics.
•to develop graduates having an in-depth knowledge and understanding with industry leading data analysis and database
tools.
•to develop the students probability and statistical skills.
•to develop the students capacity to apply practical skills towards the development of analytical solutions for specific
problems.
•to develop the students capacity to produce innovative solutions for problems and to define solutions for unfamiliar
problems.
•to develop the students ability to conduct research and utilise/adapt new and emerging techniques and technologies.
•to give the students an understanding of the need for high ethical standards in the practice of data analysis, including the
responsibilities of the data analysis profession towards people, the environment and society in general.
•to enable students to work effectively as an individual, in teams and in multidisciplinary settings together with the capacity
to undertake lifelong learning.
•to develop the students verbal and written communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with the
business community and with society at large.
•to provide graduates with industry experience through placement.
It is intended that this programme will be offered in a blended manner with a small number of on campus sessions and a
significant number on online classes and tutorials to facilitate study from home or the office.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a level 8 (or equivalent) qualification. Priority will be given to graduates in a numerate discipline.
