About this Course

This is a one year top-up programme in Animation (BA Hons) which is certified by the University of Wolverhampton. The course is taught by Industry professionals with further input from visiting industry guest lecturers and workshops during the year. The course will suit those who are seeking employment in the animation sector and have a background in creative industries . This course will be particularly suitable to those working in the animation sector and allow participants to bring their skills and experience to degree level. It will provide participants with an opportunity to work on an area of their own personal interest and complete a creative project such as a short film and use the framework provided in the college and the expertise of staff.
Students are encouraged to specialize in areas where there is good potential for employment such as 2D/3D animation, background design, modelling, game design, character design, storyboarding and directing. The completion of a profes

Entry Requirements

Applicants will be expected to have previous skills and experience in Animation or a related discipline, these can be gained by previously studying Animation related courses at Level 6 or 7 or in an employment situation where they have gained some animation skills and want to upskill. Previously we have found students who had completed a relevant BTEC HND in areas such as Animation, graphics, Art and Design with a minimum of 10 merits or an equivalent and cognate QQI qualification benefited hugely from this programme. We have also found that some applicants who didn't necessarily have industry skills or relevant animation skills but had backgrounds in areas such as gaming, art, computer science, design or multimedia were able to use this programme as a crossover and were very welcome into employment in the animation industry as they had diverse skills which were sought after.
