This certificate programme in Aircraft Technical Services Level 7 is designed in partnership with the Shannon Aviation Cluster in response to demand to address a skills gap in this area and requirements for more personnel to satisfy a growing demand for technical services representatives within this sector. The course will give the student an opportunity to upskill and transfer their knowledge into practical real world skills.

The aim of this programme is to give participants an opportunity to develop a detailed knowledge of the key aircraft technical services areas

Entry Requirements

Individuals with an aircraft maintenance qualification, aviation qualification at Level 6 or above or with relevant industry experience.

Long Description

This certificate programme in Aircraft Technical Services Level 7 is designed in partnership with the Shannon Aviation Cluster in response to demand to address a skills gap in this area and requirements for more personnel to satisfy a growing demand for technical services representatives within this sector. The course will give the student an opportunity to upskill and transfer their knowledge into practical real world skills.

The aim of this programme is to give participants an opportunity to develop a detailed knowledge of the key aircraft technical services areas. These comprise of Aircraft Records during a lease transition process, Continued Airworthiness Management (CAMO) ensuring compliance with Aircraft Manufactures Maintenance Programmes and governing EASA /FAA regulations, and of Part 21 Design, examining Airworthiness Legislation, it's impact on both aircraft design and any minor or major modifications. The course will be delivered by current industry professionals, and a number of guest speakers will input during the course.

Career Opportunities

Irish lessors manage €80bn in assets worldwide and there are more than 250 companies involved in the aerospace,
aviation and space sectors in Ireland, providing employment for around 42,000 full-time workers. A report by accountants
PwC Taking Flight – 2018, shows that the industry supports 4,970 jobs, including 1,700 directly, spends €541 million here
and contributes a further €90 million in payroll-related tax to the exchequer. Aircraft Leasing companies are primarily
financial institutions, who require highly skilled technical expertise to ensure that asset value is maintained and all
required maintenance is completed.

Shannon is home to the largest aerospace and aviation cluster in Ireland, over 50 firms and includes largest Lessor
GECAS being originally founded in Shannon. The Shannon Cluster has a wide range of services available and is actively
growing. These include Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, Aircraft technical support, Aircraft recycling, Corporate
and business aviation services, Aviation-related training, skills and education.
