You will be taught the latest techniques, channels and tools to build and implement best practice digital marketing campaigns. The certification is assessed through two assignments, which provide you with the opportunity to apply what you have learned and produce a comprehensive digital marketing strategy.

Program Structure:

To complete this program, students must complete 2 written assignments, each being 5,000 words. We highly recommend that you plan your time and attempt to complete your assignments in advance of the final deadlines. Assignment 1 is to be submitted within 16 weeks of your program commencing and assignment 2 is due within 32 weeks of your program commencing. An additional 8 weeks access to program material is available after the assignment 2 submission date to allow you to view your grades and the program content.

Assignment 1 (Research Assignment) AND Assignment 2 (Strategy Assignment) will contribute to your overall grade. The Digital Marketing Institute’s assessment process assesses your ability to gather appropriate research in the first assignment that will enable you to create a digital marketing strategy for the second assignment.

Assignment 1:

Students must select a company and explore the impact of existing and future technologies on its target audience and industry. Using these insights, students will then create a tailored digital marketing strategy for the business in assignment 2. You must choose a suitable company on which to base your assignments. Please bear in mind that you must get access to this company’s data and analytics tools to perform your assignments and as such, you must be realistic with your company selection.

Assignment 2:

The purpose of Assignment 2 is to build on the insights gained in the first assignment and produce a digital strategy, implementation plan and an on-going management plan for your organization’s digital activities. In the form of a report, you need to demonstrate your ability to prepare and articulate a well-founded business case for the implementation of the digital marketing strategy as an integrated strand of the organization’s marketing and communications.

Important Application Notes:

1) If you are in full time employment there is a fee of €495. This must be paid upon acceptance of an offered place on the course. This payment is non refundable.
2) Your employment status cannot be amended once your application has been submitted.
3) The work placement is optional and not a requirement to successfully complete the course and become certified.
4) Please note that all decisions regarding the outcome of applications are final and there is no appeals process.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a relevant third level honours degree (minimum second class honours). For example, Marketing, Business, Commerce or a programme with a significant business / marketing component.


Applicants must have significant and relevant work experience (minimum 3 years) in a marketing or business related capacity.

All applicants must demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for digital marketing. As part of the application process, should you meet the entry requirements, applicants will be required to provide a 1 page document answering the following questions. These will be requested via email:

1) Why are you applying for the programme?
2) What is your interest in digital marketing?
3) Do you have any relevant experience to support your application?

Within the above, applicants should also provide a link to their LinkedIn profile (if one exists) or CV. Applicants will be required to provide electronic proof of their qualifications such as certs / transcripts. Applicants may also be subject to interview.

If English is not their first language, students must have a minimum IELTS level 6.0 or equivalent.

The course is assessed through two assignments, which provide you with the opportunity to practice what you have learned and produce a comprehensive digital marketing strategy - invaluable experience for future business / employment prospects.

The syllabus of this course is developed in conjunction with the Digital Marketing Institute's 'Industry Advisory Council'. This council is an industry based working group which defines and validates all the Digital Marketing Institute's content. It is made up of (but not limited to) companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Google, LinkedIn, IBM, Twitter, PayPal, Ogilvy, OmniCom, Vodafone, Salesforce and many more.

The Council contributes to the development of our internationally recognised standards by ensuring the consistency of our industry-led programmes. By providing expert review and recommendations on a regular basis, the Council ensures that graduates of the Digital Marketing Institute have learned the most up to date digital skills, core competencies and knowledge needed to thrive in their digital careers.

The students also have access to their own individual portal where they can network with fellow students through forums. We also provide an online Course Tutor to help navigate the course.

In addition to our own activities, the Digital Marketing Institute will also employ the use of an Employability and Work Placement Specialist to assist us here.

The steps we will employ are as follows:

1. Setting Career Goals – Analyse and set clear, achievable goals for job search and career progression
2. CV and Interview Skills – Our team will work with you to build a professional CV and simulate interviews based on experience within the industry
3. Visit a Relevant Company – we aim to visit a company that is engaged in Digital Marketing so you can better understand the functions, roles and activities involved
4. Your Professional Image – our team will help define expectations in the work place and in digital marketing which will help guide you during your work placement and potential employment
5. Career Planning – take a deep dive into the current and future options in Digital Marketing and identify jobs and progression opportunities
6. Effective use of LinkedIn – how to use LinkedIn to create opportunities
7. Work Placement (12 weeks) – our aim is to identify a suitable work placement opportunity that is accessible, and provides a great opportunity to gain experience and a future reference
8. Pro-active Support – we endeavor to promote students to relevant companies (including your host employer for work placement) and provide support through identifying employment opportunities.

Each student will be contacted by email / phone at least once a week by the Work Placement Specialist and / or the Digital Marketing Institute over the course of the programme. All participants will be invited to join regular 'Group Career Workshops' (delivered online) covering the steps outlined above and everyone will have one-to-one sessions with the Employability and Work Placement Specialist to map out their individual career opportunities.

RPL Information

Policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at the Digital Marketing Institute. Recognition of prior learning at the Digital Marketing Institute encompasses all types of prior learning including:1.Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) 2.Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) 3.Accreditation of Prior Certified Learning (APCL) 4.Accreditation of Prior Learning and Achievement (APL&A) 5.Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) 6.Learning of Outside Formal Teaching (LOFT). The RPL shall be used for the following purposes at the Digital Marketing Institute: 1.To enable applicants to gain entry to a DMI programme. 2.To award credits for part of a programme of study. 3.To award exemptions for some programme requirements. Assessment of RPL,s: The process shall be timely, fair and transparent. The process shall be based on evidence provided by the applicant. The process will be equitable, valid and reliable. The decisions will be accountable and transparent. The applicant ALWAYS has the right to appeal. The evidence and rationale on which the decisions are made will be recorded and retained by the D.M.I. Applications for RPL: Applicants must apply for RPL when submitting their application for the programme. No applications for RPL will be considered after the application closing date.

2) Applications are reviewed by multiple members of the admissions team within 5-7 days
3) Should your application meet the entry requirements you will be contacted via email and asked to provide further information and documentation in order to support your application. Please do not submit any further documentation
beyond your initial application via the Springboard portal unless requested to do so
4) Once your application has been reviewed in full you will receive confirmation either way regarding the outcome (Successful or Unsuccessful)
5) All decisions are final and there is no appeals process for applications
