About this Course

This 16 week programme represents an opportunity for participants to develop practical entrepreneurial skills directly transferable to the context of self-employment. It also offers a support network to enable them to confidently enter the workforce as self-employed business owners. It is delivered in a creative, collaborative and engaging learning environment.

Participants will explore and develop new or existing business ideas to determine their viability. The programme is delivered in a blended flexible format with a combination of Bootcamp training events, business skills workshops, one to one mentoring and group online mentoring. The flexible scheduling of the programme is designed to allow access to the programme to all eligible learners regardless of current employment status.

The programme helps learners utilise existing skills gained through employment and past education and to build a business driven by their skills and passion.

Learners are supported by expert mentors and a training team who are all experienced entrepreneurs working closely withstart-ups for many years across all industries.Personal and professional confidence building is core to the programme- we help you build your confidence through development of your knowledge, skills and network and then you can go and build the business!

Objectives

The programme aims to help people return to work through the creation of self employment opportunities and provide opportunities to anyone who would like to start their own business.

We aim to help participants build their confidence to start a business through the development of essential business skills and approaches and a support network to help keep you in business.

Entry Requirements

This programme welcomes participants with a range of educational backgrounds in acknowledgment of the value of skills and knowledge built through previous work and life experiences.

Participants are required to already have the relevant vocational skills for their proposed business so that the programme can then add the all-important business skills to that vocation. So for example, an accountant must be qualified to practice, or a plumber must have completed their apprenticeship. We will train them to take their skill and turn it into a business. Participants without a trade or skill will be assisted to create a business around their passions or other relevant experience through a process of Ideation and market research.

The Entrepreneurs Academy provides participants with the skills required to start their own sustainable business. This is done through engaging those who have entrepreneurial traits and characteristics i.e.: vision, passion, drive, creativity, resilience, problem solving, risk taking and self-determination and are willing to make their dream a reality. We recognise learning wherever it has been derived and value the role of experiential learning in the development of skills useful to self-employment.

Applicants who are currently unemployed, returners and those currently employed will have the opportunity to draw from experience in previous work settings. They may choose to redirect existing skills and re-skill through the programme to become self-employed in new sectors of interest.

Applicants with experience working in numerous industry sectors where individuals may not have a formal education but have acquired learning and skill transferable to a self-employment context are welcome.
To support your application please include the following information:
• Your reasons for wanting to start your own business.
• A summary of your Life/work experience highlighting industry-specific skills acquired through experience as they relate to your business idea.
• Any self-employment experience with a business venture in the past.
• All education/training to date including attendance on non-formal courses
• Any awards, prizes or publications.
