With the continued growth of the Food and Beverage Industry in Ireland, this programme is suitable for those who wish to upskill to build a career within the Food and Beverage. Our Level 8 Higher Diploma in Food Science and Technology will give you all that you need to succeed.
Our courses are delivered by lecturers with real, relevant industry experience. Many hold - or have held – high-level roles in multinational companies, both in Ireland and globally. They’ll provide you with a deeper understanding of your subject in practical terms, as well as developing your skills in areas such as communication, management and leadership.
This Level 8 programme combines a blend of food science and manufacturing modules giving graduates an in-depth knowledge of Food Microbiology, Food Processing Operations, Food Hygiene and Contamination Control, HACCP, Food Quality Systems and Regulatory Control, Food Product Innovation and Development, Food Formulations and Lean Six Sigma, Accredited by ITT Dublin, this month course is delivered by experienced lecturers from academia and industry.
This 3-semester programme involves online lectures two evenings per week and two Saturdays a month which involves tutorials and equipment touch time in a simulated manufacturing environment.
This course is developed in collaboration with our partners at ITT Dublin and is supported as part of the Springboard initiative.
This programme is suitable for those who possess a minimum level 7 qualification in a science, engineering, culinary, food or related discipline. Ideally, candidates will possess relevant experience in manufacturing, quality, laboratory, supply chain, maintenance or engineering, in one or more of the following industries; electronics, construction, chemical, semiconductor, agriculture, finance, or food & beverage.
Candidates who have relevant experience but who do not meet the academic requirements will be considered under the Innopharma's APEL policies.
This Level 8 Higher Diploma in Science equips learners with an in-depth scientific understanding of food, as well as important critical thinking and innovation skills needed by the food and beverage manufacturing - Ireland's largest indigenous sector. The Food and Beverages sector in Ireland remains highly competitive within the manufacturing sector employing directly and indirectly over 230,000 people with a payroll of €2.1bn in 2017 - the highest payroll within the manufacturing sector. Exports contributed €13.5bn to the economy in 2017.
This programme combines a blend of Food Science and Manufacturing modules with a range of Business and Industry directed modules giving graduates an in-depth knowledge of Food Processing Operations, Food Formulations, Food Quality Systems, HACCP & Contamination Control. Combined with this, graduates will have a strong insight into New Product Development which is key to supporting the R & D capacity of companies.
From the initial inquiry right through to the participant taking up employment, this programme is designed to support job readiness. Every participant attends an interview with our selection panel of industry experts to determine the best strategy for their return to work. This initial assessment determines their core competencies, transferable skills and the most suitable roles within the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry.
An integral part of the programme is dedicated to Career Development guided by professional business coaches. This process allows each individual to develop a career strategy for themselves. Participants understand how to structure their CV. Interview skills are developed with individual feedback and coaching provided over the course of the programme.
This programme is delivered 2 evenings per week online and 2 Saturdays per month in the campus.
