About this Course

The Special Purpose Award in Biopharmaceutical Processing provides an accredited qualification in Biopharmaceutical Processing for individuals who are seeking to cross-skill in order to gain suitable employment in the biopharmaceutical sector, or up-skill as they currently work in production/manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, validation or processing/plant operation roles within Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology manufacturing companies.

Entry Requirements

All qualified candidates are required to have a minimum of a Level 6 in an engineering or science discipline. Applicants will also be considered through CIT's RPL process.
Level 6 (120 credits) is required to apply to this programme.

Long Description

The Special Purpose Award in Biopharmaceutical Processing provides an accredited qualification in Biopharmaceutical Processing for individuals who are seeking to cross-skill in order to gain suitable employment in the biopharmaceutical sector, or up-skill as they currently work in production/manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, validation or processing/plant operation roles within Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology manufacturing companies.

Students will attain a knowledge and understanding of the principles of upstream and downstream Biopharmaceutical Processing and its underpinning science with a focus on cell culture, recovery, isolation, purification and polishing. This course was a Finalist in the Pharma Awards in 2017 within the Education and Training Category.
