About this Course

The Higher Diploma in Business in International Financial Services will provide candidates with the integrated theoretical and practical knowledge and skillset required for decision making within the modern and dynamic financial services sector. Candidates will gain a fundamental understanding of the key theories, concepts and tools used within the international financial services sector. They will have a critical awareness of the economic and regulatory framework within which the sector operates. They will possess the analytical and multiperspective mind-set which allows them exercise appropriate judgements in evaluating the operational challenges facing the international financial services sector.

Objectives

On completion of this programme, students will have knowledge and understanding of the international financial services industry. The programme will also develop their intellectual and practical skills via the analysis and evaluation of funds administration, project management,
data analytics and compliance.

Entry Requirements

Applicants require an NFQ Level 7 or 8 Award, or equivalent, for entry to this programme. Other applicants will be considered on an individual basis in accordance with the Institute policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). IT Carlow reserve the right to require applicants to attend for interview to determine their suitability for the programme.

The Higher Diploma in Business in International Financial Services provides candidates with the integrated theoretical and practical knowledge and skillset required for decision making within the modern and dynamic financial services sector. Candidates gain a fundamental understanding of the key theories, concepts and tools used within the international financial services sector. They will have a critical awareness of the economic and regulatory framework within which the sector operates. They will possess the analytical and multiperspective mind-set which allows them exercise appropriate judgements in evaluating the operational challenges facing the international financial services sector.

This programme is designed to appeal to those who are looking to re-skill or up-skill to gain employment in the International Financial Services Sector. In addition it will be a tremendous asset to those working in the sector. The applied nature of this programme is reflected in the combination of project management, work placement & data analysis alongside accounting and administration modules which focus on developing the student’s knowledge of the International Financial Services Sector, fund management and all the regulatory requirements nationally, at EU level and at international levels. All participants will improve their knowledge, numeracy skills, IT skills and commercial awareness of the industry.

This programme is 90% funded for those in employment, students that fall into this category must pay a fee of €350.00. This fee becomes payable before registration in August.
This programme is free to those in receipt of qualifying Social Welfare Payments and Returners - see details below.

(1) A scanned copy of your EU Passport, or a scanned copy of your non-EU Passport with a copy of your Stamp 4 visa. You are not required to provide a copy of your Public Services Card to verify ID.
(2) A copy of your Curriculum Vitae.
(3) A copy of your Level 7/8 Degree/ Major Award or highest other qualification. Translated if not in English
(4) A scanned copy of a recent payslip if employed showing your PPSN, or a scanned copy of a recent payment slip if in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance/ benefit, or a copy of a Letter from the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection, or a letter from your Accountant confirming that you are Self-employed, or an Affidavit signed by you and the appropriate third-party confirming that you are a Homemaker.
