About this Course

*** Note : This programme will be delivered at our Blanchardstown Campus ***

The aim of this programme is to create an understanding of the building techniques, requirements, building regulations and best practice standards for new and retrofitting low energy building projects.
This is combined with the assessment of key building components (insulation, ventilation, heating, etc.) and a " Systems Thinking" approach to energy efficiency in buildings.
Training is a combination of classroom based activities and practical demonstrations of air tightness, thermal bridging and insulation systems.

Career Opportunities

With the recent upturn in construction activity in Ireland, and the introduction of Continuing Professional Development ( CPD ) requirements for
building enterprises through the new Construction Industry Register Ireland (CIRI), significant demand for this training is
anticipated in the coming months and years.
The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires new builds to be Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) by 31st
December 2020 and buildings acquired by public bodies by 31st December 2018. The Irish Government has responded
with a series of amendments to Part L of the Building Regulations to include a requirement for buildings to use up to 60%
less energy.
