About this Course

This is a level 7 award. The program focusses on providing education and training in Microbiology, Food and Beverage production and processing, storage handling transport and waste management. Emphasis is placed on the microbiology of the food, its raw materials, manufacturing storage and transport. Emphasis will be placed on the control of contamination of the food at the various stages of its lifecycle. The principles and application of HACCP principles as applied to the food sector will also be learned and relevant case studies examined.

Entry Requirements

Mature students (over 23). Interview may be required. All applicants must have competence and spoken and written English.
The following are eligible to apply for courses in 2019/20 academic year (subject to the applicant meeting all requirements, e.g. academic requirements):
• Returners (Formerly known as Homemakers) May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
• People in employment May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
• Please note that a 10% course fee contribution for Level 7, 8, and 9 courses is applicable for employed participants. This is payable directly to the provider.

RPL Information

Recognition of Prior Learning at TU Dublin Tallaght. The RPL process will enable Springboard participants to build on their existing skills and competence. The University is aware that many Springboard applicants will have a range of knowledge skills and competence that they have developed through their life and work experience and that are not necessarily accredited. TU Dublin Tallaght has an RPL process in place that recognises both the accredited and experiential learning of an individual. TU Dublin Tallaght will work with Springboard participants to identify their existing skills and competence and to award them credit for their learning however it has been acquired. This will ensure that Springboard participants will have the opportunity to gain credit for both their accredited ad experiential learning and can tailor their programme to complement existing skills and knowledge and to develop new skills to support future years.
