This 10 week fully online programme will provide learners with a solid grounding in Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Autodesk's Revit Architecture.

Objectives

To provide the learner with the required knowledge to use Autodesk's Revit Architecture proficiently.

Minimum entry requirements are Grade OD3 or higher in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate or similar approved. Applicants are also expected to have a basic knowledge of computers and computer applications. Knowledge of building design and construction is also desirable.

This 10 week programme will encompass the basics of 3D building modeling and architectural visualisation. BIM functionality such as tables and building quantities will also be covered. The programme will benefit existing AutoCAD users as well as those learning CAD for the first time. The programme is at level 6 (special purpose) on the National Framework of Qualifications.

The programme will develop a range of skills which the successful graduate can utilise within existing skill sets to work in the evolving construction sector.

Overview of Revit Architecture and Building Information Modelling (BIM); User Interface, Views and Revit Project Setup; Elements and Element Properties; Creating and Editing Families; Detailing & Annotation; Schedules, Quantities and Tags; Shading; Rendering and Animation

The Revit Architecture online course is delivered through your web browser. It will involve logging into our lecture delivery platform and also the use of our virtual learning environment, Moodle. These platforms are designed to be easy to use, and training videos will be provided. Lectures will be delivered online; the platform is very similar to Skype, with some additional functionality such as online 'chat'. Moodle will contain course materials, recordings of the lectures & demonstrations, as well as being the platform to submit your assignments for the course.

As a student of LIT, you will have access to the Academic version of Revit 2020. Please note that this academic version is not to be used for any commercial activities. Any files opened using the academic version will be digitally stamped by the software. You will require a computer (desktop or laptop) to undertake the course, which must have audio functionality. The minimum specification of machine is given here:
