About this Course

The Post Graduate Certificate in Digital Media and Marketing develops participants ability to use cutting-edge digital media technologies as part of a marketing strategy to fulfill overall business goals. The current demand for places on this programme greatly outstrips supply. The target market is experienced business graduates, technologists, and/ or marketeers, employed or seeking employment, needing to upskill in new digital media technologies to advance and improve business and export performance in competitive online markets. According to Technology skills 2022: Ireland's ICT action plan, 2022:13, "Evidence from the skills demand forecast, indicates that the greatest demand over the coming years, is for individuals who are appropriately qualified (with) industry experience"™. Knowledge development in this programme is pitched at post-graduate level to match and continue to service the specific demand for graduate advanced-level analytics, marketing and digital upskilling. Programme Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to: Conduct a comprehensive marketing analysis of the marketing needs of an SME or non-profit organisation Employ analytical tools and digital methodologies, and implement strategies for on-line optimisation. Conduct a comprehensive, systematic review of web communication strategy effectiveness. Develop an organisational marketing strategy incorporating the most current digital media instruments. Delivery: Our research demonstrates blended delivery is optimal, thus blended delivery format, as follows: 100% blended (mix of classroom/computer lab (12.5%) and e-learning (87.5%).

Entry Requirements

Applicants will have an undergraduate degree (QQI Level 8) in a cognate area (Business, Technology, Marketing, Law and Graphic Design) or hold an equivalent professional qualification.
Students will have to meet the entry requirements as indicated in GMIT's Academic Code of Practice No. 4 (Access, transfer and progression), at any given time. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be used to gain entry to the programme or gain exemptions in accordance with GMIT Code of Practice No. 6 (Policy and Procedures for the Recognition of Prior Learning). Prior learning can be certified or experiential and will be assessed in accordance with the code.

This course and other Springboard+ courses are developed in the context of the Institute's remit to provide access to Higher Education in the region and service the needs of local, and regional SMES to enhance productivity, to improve digitalisation, employee digital skills and extend SME global market reach. This programme aligns specifically with the Future Jobs 2019 Pillar 1 Embracing Innovation and Technological Change and Future Jobs 2019 and Pillar 2 Improving SME Productivity.
