About this Course

This is a one year part time Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Digital Entrepreneurship . It aims to enable learners to acquire advanced knowledge, skills and competencies required to work independently as an entrepreneur and/or to work alongside an entrepreneur in a variety of different roles and to a high professional standard with a particular focus on developing a coherent online strategy for a business. Graduates will contribute to addressing the identified skills gaps in the area of engagement in digital technology by established businesses as well as being positioned to start up and lead their own digital business initiative.

The programme aims to:
(1) Develop knowledge and enhance critical thinking in the area of digital innovation and entrepreneurship;
(2) Develop skills in the use of appropriate digital technologies for business and marketing;
(3) Evaluate digital business propositions;
(4) Develop competencies in writing business plans, assessing strategy and overall business management and acumen.

The differentiating feature of this Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Digital Entrepreneurship is that it will assist those who are aspiring entrepreneurs from technology, design and cultural sectors to develop a competency in relation to readily available digital technology which will assist in putting their business online, broaden their understanding of the emerging digital entrepreneurship landscape while at the same time honing their business acumen and entrepreneurial capability. This makes it distinctively different to other programmes currently available in Ireland.

The teaching, learning and assessment strategy of this programme is applied. Each module assessment is 100% project based and related to real business contexts and product ideas. The student has the opportunity to work on a business concept, to interrogate the business model of this concept and test its validity in the marketplace, while acquiring the skills, knowledge and competency to develop an online business.

Entry Requirements

An honour (2:2) degree in a Level 8 programme. Applicants with relevant work experience who do not meet the criteria may be considered provided they can demonstrate Honour Degree equivalence. This can be verified through the IADT-RPL process.

The programme is a Level 9 (Credit) applied Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Digital Entrepreneurship. It aims to enable learners to acquire the advanced knowledge, skills and competencies required to work independently as an entrepreneur and/or to work alongside an entrepreneur or in any business environment in a variety of different roles. This course has a particular focus on developing a coherent online strategy for a business.
The teaching, learning and assessment strategy for this programmes is applied. The assessments for each module is 100% project based and projects are strongly based on real world contexts or product ideas.


The modules covered are:

Digital Design for Business (10 Credits)

- Aim of this modules is to enable the learner to design, construct and evaluate a digital present for a business or equivalent in conjunction with a personal ePortfolio.
- Objective is to ensure students use multivarious design and technological tools and methodologies to deliver contemporary, entrepreneurial, engaging web presences.

Digital Innovation & Entrepreneurship (5 Credits)

- Aim of this module is to enable the learner to critically assess digital innovation in industry and digital strategy.
- Objective is to ensure the student use appropriate tools and methodologies to analyse current digital innovations and the effect on industry.


SEO & Data Analytics (10 Credits)

- Aim of this module is to enable the learner to develop practical transferable skills in the area of data collection and interpretation and refine their data management skills.
- Objective is to ensure students appropriate tools and approaches for analysing the data from their business websites.

Digital Marketing (15 credits)

-Aim of this module is to enable the learner to gain a critical overview of the role of digital marketing and its capabilities to deliver marketing objectives and to understand a strategic approach to digital marketing.
- Objectives is to ensure students develop the ability to plan, build, implement and critically evaluate advanced digital marketing strategy.


Management (20 Credits)

-Aim of this module is to enable the learner to develop their critical understanding on managing a business start-up.
-Objective is to ensure students use appropriate tools and methodologies to develop the business model for a fledgling business and to ensure that they can engage with strategy, law, finance and HR as they research and develop the business case for a digital business concept.

The student has the opportunity to work on a business concept, to interrogate the business model of this concept and to test its validity in the marketplace, while at the same time acquiring the skills, knowledge and competency to develop the online aspect of the business. The achievement of the learning outcomes of the programme will position graduates to work either as entrepreneurs or as intrepreneurs within dynamic digital business environments. In particular, it will introduce the student to an array of digital tools, many of them easily accessible and not requiring programming skills, which can be utilised to enable businesses to improve their online offering and capabilities. The programme will also engage with current and relevant issues impacting on digital entrepreneurship, including international approaches to digital technology and globalisation.
