About this Course

Continuous technological developments coupled with a growing complexity in consumer behaviour poses both great opportunities and challenges for marketers. While digital marketing is firmly established in Ireland, many firms are yet to take full advantage of the benefits digital platforms offer from a marketing perspective. A recently published report from We Are Social (2019) outlines internet usage at 92% (+14% y.o.y.) of Ireland's population, while 66% (+3% y.o.y.) are currently active social media users. Therein lies an opportunity for new graduates to aid industry in the adoption and effective utilisation of these technologies.

This programme is designed specifically to address these needs within industry. The programme adopts established marketing theory and comprehensively examines its application within a contemporary industrial setting. To achieve this, the programme is delivered by both senior academics and experienced industry professionals. Through a blended learning strategy, including elements of the programme being delivered both online and offline, students development remains rooted in the very technologies they will adopt in their industry roles. In adopting this approach, students achieve a balance between the theoretical and practical development necessary to contribute to industry-leading organisations.

Designed in ongoing consultation with a multitude of stakeholders, including industry-leading multi-national organisations, start-ups and SMEs, and consultancy agencies, the programme remains cognizant of the rate of development within marketing and strives to provide students with the most up-to-date content via the multitude of business databases available through the University library. Additionally, inclusion of an active industry participation element in the programme ensures graduates are equipped to enter the jobs market with knowledge and assurance of the relevant skills required by industry.

Competitively priced when compared with other Digital Marketing skills courses at all levels, graduates of this course will be given the knowledge to manage cutting-edge digital marketing campaigns within contemporary industry.

Entry Requirements

For students educated in Ireland:

If under 23 years applicants must have a passing grade in a minimum of 5 subjects in the Leaving Certificate (this must include Maths and English or Irish) or a FETAC Level 5 or equivalent.

Mature applicants over 23 years of age may be exempted from this requirement and are eligible to apply. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English. Eligible candidates may be interviewed.

For students educated outside Ireland, there are multiple options:

Currently hold a qualification recognised through the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) office, or; Ensure that the applicants qualifications are verified through the NARIC standard, or;

Currently hold a qualification which may be checked by TU Dublin, using the previous standard set by the Institutes of Technology Central Evaluation Forum (IOTCEF). This group produces a publication, which is regularly reviewed A World of Access, detailing many of the qualifications from around the world and matching them to the entry requirement for programmes. TU Dublin will endeavour to match the applicants qualification with the qualifications required for entry to the programme you have chosen.

The following are eligible to apply for courses in 2020/2021 academic year (subject to the applicant meeting all requirements, e.g. academic requirements):
• Returners (Formerly known as Homemakers) May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
• People in employment May apply to all courses if they meet the nationality/visa requirement and residency criteria.
• Please note that a 10% course fee contribution for Level 7, 8, and 9 courses is applicable for employed participants. This is payable directly to the provider.
• The unemployed or formerly self-employed all courses are open to these category of applicants, with the exception of the two year part-time ICT conversion courses which are not open to those in receipt of a Jobseekers-related payment

RPL Information

Recognition of Prior Learning at TU Dublin Tallaght. The RPL process will enable Springboard participants to build on their existing skills and competence. The University is aware that many Springboard applicants will have a range of knowledge skills and competence that they have developed through their life and work experience and that are not necessarily accredited. TU Dublin Tallaght has an RPL process in place that recognises both the accredited and experiential learning of an individual. TU Dublin Tallaght will work with Springboard participants to identify their existing skills and competence and to award them credit for their learning however it has been acquired. This will ensure that Springboard participants will have the opportunity to gain credit for both their accredited ad experiential learning and can tailor their programme to complement existing skills and knowledge and to develop new skills to support future years.
