About this Course

The primary objective of the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety programme is to provide a qualification for those with a professional interest in, or involved in the application of, occupational health and safety at work. Participants will also have the opportunity to review and prepare safety related documentation and risk assessments for their own workplace. There is a continuing demand across industry and the public sector for qualified environmental, health and safety practitioners, as organisations try to keep ahead of the vast range of legislation that now applies in these areas. Health and safety officers and managers, occupational health personnel, environmental officers amongst others, play a pivotal role in implementing policies and programmes and complying with their legal responsibilities in this regard. The Diploma is designed to help one ensure the safety, health and welfare of the Irish workforce.

Entry Requirements

All applicants are assessed on a case by case basis. Applicants over the age of 23 are considered mature students and can apply on the basis of age. Applicants under the age of 23 need to meet the Institute entry requirements for Level 7. The Institute RPL policy and procedure is available to anyone wishing to apply through that route.
