This part-time blended postgraduate programme in Digital Transformation (Life Science) is designed with input from industry, to meet the emerging needs of the pharmaceutical and medical sectors as they progress towards pharma 4.0 implementation, with greater integration of technology, quality and the greater abundance of data.
This programme focuses on enhancing learners' knowledge, skills and competencies associated with the concepts of digital transformation and the evolution of the smart factory in the life science sector.
Learners complete the following modules, Advanced Manufacturing in the Smart Factory; Business Case Development; Quality Management in a Digital Age; Big Data Acquisition and Management; Operational Excellence - Lean Sigma 4.0; Strategy and Change Management; Analysis of Big Data; Data Visualisation and Storytelling; Research Methods.
Learners research the current and future trends in life science manufacturing; the application and impact of new technologies and data analysis and visualisation on current performance; the impact on organisations and their levels of maturity to complete such transformations, as well as ethical and corporate social responsibilities associated with such changes.
The aim is to produce graduates capable of addressing many different challenges in the current pharmaceutical manufacturing landscape, especially in the areas of process control, data acquisition, data management, data analysis, quality and operational excellence.
Typical roles include advanced manufacturing managers, digital transformation roles, process analytical technologies, process digitalisation, regulatory affairs / compliance, operational excellence and business strategy roles. A specific module will provide the learner with the ability to recognise and develop the skills to work in the changing environmental climate. Learners will develop the skills to develop an appropriate CV, successfully complete an interview and gain entry or progress within the industry.
The primary target audience includes those who possess qualifications at NFQ Levels 8 or greater in science, manufacturing, quality, computation, engineering or a related discipline. Ideally, candidates will possess relevant experience in operations, quality or engineering in one or more of the following industries: pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, clinical trials, electronics, food, chemical, semiconductor or agriculture.
