About this Course

This course is a one year part-time programme consisting of a subset of the technical modules from year one of the Higher Diploma in Data Analytics offered by DkIT. It will equip participants with the theoretical and practical skills necessary to enter the world of data analytics.

It aims to provide the learner with an introduction to the field of data analytics and to build the core competencies in statistics, databases and programming (in R) necessary to conduct advanced statistical analysis of large and small data sets to solve real business problems.

Upon completion of this programme the learner should understand the role and importance of data analytics in modern business and have developed the skills necessary to conduct relevant analysis, interpret and present findings in the context of industry focused problems. The learner should also have an understanding of the importance of modern databases in the representation and storage of data, the potential of spreadsheet technology and general business intelligence solutions in data exploration and analysis. Furthermore, they should be capable of running advanced statistical analyses through R on large data sets; from generating descriptive statistics to building models and creating data visualisations.

Objectives

It will provide learners with skills in the areas of statistics, programming and databases that will enable them to transfer much of the domain specific knowledge/skill already gain in their primary degree(s) to the IT and Data Analytics sector.
