The development of emerging technologies in the entertainment, marketing and education fields has meant a huge increase in the need for skilled content creators. The content space for games, augmented reality and virtual reality in particular, has created a surge in need for talented 3d artists with detailed knowledge of emerging technologies and their applications.
This course means to introduce new and emerging technologies to the student with a focus on 3d content creation. Using industry standard production pipelines and tools the student will be introduced to the fundamentals of developing for a number of platforms before focusing on one particular area.
New and emerging pipelines in games, augmented reality and virtual reality will form the basis for the module content and both realtime and pre-rendered environments will be explored.
The student will develop their technical abilities while developing creative approaches to the problems posed by emerging platforms. Teamwork will be embedded in the modules to allow a realistic approach to the 3d development pipeline.
A Design related Honours degree (Level 8), or an equivalent qualification. Non-degree graduates (diploma/certificate) who have significant work experience in a related design industry may be eligible to apply. LYIT recognises that life and work experience counts, and operates a comprehensive Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPL) scheme.
