This programme is a level 9 part -time Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Cultural Event Management that provides lifelong learning opportunities for upskilling and reskilling employees and graduates seeking employment opportunities in the cultural and creative industries (CCI), a growth sector of the Irish economy and a sector that has been significantly impacted by COVID19.
The Diploma provides an opportunity for practitioners in the Cultural and Creative sector to hone and develop their business, event management and digital marketing skills, - areas of critical importance in developing cultural and creative programming and will equips learners with the necessary business competencies to negotiate the complex world of events and arts management.
The programme develops graduates with core business knowledge, skills and competence that are specifically geared towards the cultural and creative sector.
A number of key objectives have been identified including:
1. the facilitation of learners in the development of their business acumen with a focus on the development of sustainable cultural and creative projects
2. the critical engagement with emerging digital technology and digital marketing trends and developments that impact on the cultural sector.
3. the development of a cultural entrepreneurial mindset
In addition, graduates will acquire key transferable skills, such as event planning and organisation, critical analysis, digital marketing capbability, team working, financial know how and business acumen that can be applied in the Creative and cultural sector and elsewhere.
In pursuing these objectives, learners will be working with academics and practitioners that have significant research and practical experience of the Creative and Cultural Sector and the teaching, learning and assessment strategies will incorporate relevant and up to date case studies and scenarios.
An undergraduate qualification with a 2nd class honours at higher degree level. Applicants who do not meet this criteria may be considered provided they can demonstrate honours degree equivalence verified through RPL.

This Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Cultural Event Management meets an identified skills deficit in the creative industries, a growth sector in the Irish economy, - a sector that employs over 77,000 in Ireland with further growth and employment opportunities projected.
On this programme learners will learn to think critically about events in the light of cultural, social, community and ethical business issues. The programme introduces learners to cultural policy, nationally and internationally and provides contextual background to understand the nature of the Creative and Cultural Industries. The programme critically evaluates how business (finance, marketing, hr and management) interact in the cultural management context. Learners will know how to evaluate the legal and risk management issues associated with an event and how to develop appropriate response strategies. Digital marketing is an integral part of the programme and learners will become proficient in selecting and using social media as a communications and marketing tool.
The programme opens up a range of opportunities in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and event management, festival management and production, marketing/ PR and general management positions.
This practical one -year programme equips students with the necessary business competencies to negotiate the complex world of event and arts management. It provides an in-depth and rounded knowledge of how to successfully manage events, with a focus on the cultural sector.
Graduates from this programme are equipped to take up a range of positions across both the public and private sector - Previous graduates have gone onto employment as:

Online classes will take place 2 evenings per week and on campus classes will take place every second Saturday
