About this Course

Through our MSc in Food Business Management and Technology, you will gain a broader understanding of the intricacies of food manufacturing, it's processing, product development and food laws as well as several other facets of the food industry. If you have a qualification in science, engineering, business, or quality environment, you’ll have the chance to develop technical proficiency in the food industry and hone your problem-solving abilities. This will make you a significantly more effective professional in a highly quality-driven industry.

This 3-semester programme involves online lectures (2 evenings per week) and two Saturdays a month that involves tutorials and equipment touch time in a simulated manufacturing environment to be scheduled prior to course commencement.

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for those job seekers who possess a minimum second class honor at QQI Level 8 in Science, Agricultural Science, Business, Management or Engineering. Ideally, candidates will possess relevant experience in one of the following areas: manufacturing, research and development, laboratory, quality, supply chain, maintenance, engineering role or sales & marketing in one or more of the following industries: chemical, semiconductor, construction, agriculture, finance, electronics, food & beverage or life science.

If English is not the first language, an English language qualification is required for admission - the exception to this rule is if applicants have completed their primary degree or an entire third level qualification through English, in an English speaking country.

Long Description

This unique MSc in Food Business Management and Technology allows Business/Science/Engineering/Quality graduates to cross skill to gain an in-depth knowledge of food science and processing, R&D product development, global supply chain, business management and sales & marketing. It enables participants to develop professional and technical competencies in food manufacturing, business methods and problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in an innovation and quality-driven sector. Learners gain advanced knowledge of the factors affecting the sustainability of food production and the role that innovation can play in the sector.

Accredited by TU Dublin, this 12-month programme is delivered by experienced lecturers from industry, supported by academia. With online delivery of lectures two evenings per week, supported by Saturday tutorials and evening labs, this programme offers great flexibility to participants regionally who are working as they upskill. Irish food and drink produce, now exported to over 180 countries worldwide, hit a record high of €13 billion in 2019. As companies prepare their overall business strategy to mitigate against the effects of Brexit, and other global trading concerns, this programme is innovative in addressing the critical areas which will enhance approaches to entering new markets.
