Combining a blend of food science and manufacturing modules with a range of industry directed modules, this course gives graduates an in-depth knowledge of Food Microbiology, Good Hygiene Practice, Manufacturing Process Technology, HACCP, Food Regulatory Affairs, Process Improvement, Occupational Safety & Environmental Management Applied Maths, Fundamentals of Science and GMP.

Designed to minimise disruption to your schedule, this two-semester course involves online lectures two evenings per week and two Saturdays a month which involve tutorials and equipment touch time in a simulated manufacturing environment.
This course is developed in collaboration with our partners at Technological University Dublin, Tallaght Campus.
Applicants should possess a minimum qualification at NFQ Level 5 or a Trade Qualification.
Recognition of prior learning and experience will support entry onto this programme. Ideally, candidates will have a previous history of employment.
This Level 6 Certificate in Food Science and Technology programme is specifically designed in consultation with leading food organisations and agencies to support employees currently working within the food and beverage sector to advance their careers opportunities. The programme also provides individuals with an interest in developing a career within these sectors the necessary expertise to successfully fill existing and emerging industry needs.
Delivered over two semesters and run by Innopharma Education in collaboration with TUD, the programme is strongly aligned to the sectors labour market needs, delivered by industry experts providing students with vital up to date industry knowledge and skill. Module combination is an essential blend of food science, manufacturing and a range of industry directed content equipping students with an in-depth knowledge of Food Microbiology, Food Regulatory Affairs, Fundamentals of Science, Applied Maths for Process Operators, Manufacturing & Process Technology, HACCP & Food Quality Systems, Lean Operations, Occupational & Environmental Health and Safety and Learning to Learn at 3rd Level.
Through team and individual projects, learners will develop skills in communication/presenting, report writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving. This mix ensures graduates acquire a valuable skillset and well-developed capability across a broad spectrum of key disciplines, which is critical to the development of the industries talent pool and addresses the major skills deficit.
The programme is delivered through a blended approach, with weekend tutorials (Dublin, Limerick and Cork), online evening lectures, individual mentorship, class recordings, and eLearning content. Technical module content offers students the advantage of experiential technical learning, through participation in laboratory research and testing skills in modern well-equipped laboratories. This programme is open to unemployed, returners and employed applicants.
