The pharmaceutical industry has traditionally required individuals with a strong science or engineering background to support its significant manufacturing activities in Ireland. Today, there is a new skill-set required along with those with scientific knowledge. This skill-set requires professional individuals with a strong knowledge of manufacturing, compliance, regulation as well as business improvement. These skills need to be supported with an ability to assimilate information, make effective decisions and communicate clearly using the latest technologies and systems.

This HCI funded BA (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Business Operations developed by Innopharma Education in conjunction with Griffith College is suitable for those with a higher certificate in science, engineering or a related discipline who are looking to start a new career or develop an existing one. Designed and delivered by highly experienced academics and industry professionals, you will learn the skills and knowledge that companies are looking for.

This course is delivered part-time and lectures are broadcast live online giving you the opportunity to join the class online if for some reason you cannot attend class in person. The modules are also recorded which means you can view them at a later stage.

Entry Requirements

This course is suited for those with a minimum qualification of a Degree QQI Level 7 or higher in Science, Engineering, Quality or a related discipline AND an additional Honours Degree QQI Level 8 or higher in any discipline who wish to develop their knowledge and skills on the application of science in the Pharmaceutical industry.



Long Description

This Level 8 Graduate Conversion Programme is a standalone 60 credit programme that offers an excellent opportunity for Science / Engineering graduates to gain a qualification that will offer niche, specialized modules to bridge the gap from graduate to employee in the Bio(Pharma) Industry.
Graduates who have completed a previous cognate qualification and are keen to either progress their qualification to an Honours degree or complete an industry-specific programme for the Bio(Pharma) industry level are the target audience. Cognate disciplines include science, engineering, quality, technology, data analytics, computing, computation and related areas.

The programme is delivered through blended learning with face to face classroom contact, theory directly followed by practice-based workshops, online blended learning supports, group and individual tutorials, site visits, visiting lectures. Learners research the current and future trends in the life science industry relating to manufacturing; the application and impact of new technologies on quality; strategies to implement change and ethical and corporate social responsibilities associated with such changes. The aim is to produce graduates capable of addressing many different challenges in the current life science manufacturing landscape. Learners develop the skills to make value judgments, become more adaptable and agile as well as develop greater resilience. They develop greater self-awareness of themselves and the expectations of the industry.
This sustained academic and industry preparation produces learners who are industry-ready for careers in the pharmaceutical industry. Typical pharmaceutical roles for successful graduates of this programme include Operations roles, Project engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Process improvement specialists, Quality assurance & Clinical trial co-ordinators. To support graduates, career support is an integral part of the programme and will be delivered through the Technical & Professional Communications module which will focus on career progression, CV preparation, competency-based interview skills and preparing for Psychometric tests.
