About this Course

This 100% online programme will provide learners with a solid grounding in Building Information Modelling (BIM) using Autodesk's Revit Architecture.

The programme will encompass the basics of 3D building modeling and architectural visualisation. BIM functionality such as tables and building quantities will also be covered. The programme will benefit existing AutoCAD users as well as those learning CAD for the first time. The programme is at level 6 (special purpose) on the National Framework of
Qualifications.

The programme will develop a range of skills which the successful graduate can utilise within existing skill sets to work in the evolving construction sector.

Objectives

To provide the learner with the required knowledge to use Autodesk's Revit Architecture proficiently.

Entry Requirements

Minimum entry requirements are Grade OD3 or higher in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate or similar approved.
Applicants are also expected to have a basic knowledge of computers and computer applications.

Knowledge of building design and construction is also desirable.

Proof of employment/social welfare/returner status dated within the last month (see below)

2. Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) / Special Case Registrations: Prospective participants who do not meet the educational qualification entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should notify the Flexible Learning Office and request consideration under RPL. Please submit your application online here and then email Springboard@lit.ie requesting consideration under LIT’s RPL policy. Please state your unique Springboard reference number, name and chosen course.

3. ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements. We do not require proof of IELTS however, each applicant must ensure that their English is to above standard and they will be able to participate without any language barrier.

4. ASSESSMENTS/EXAMS: No Examinations. Three continuous assessment exercises will be set during the programme.

5. FEES: (Level 6) The overall fee for this programme is €850. This programme is 100% Springboard funded for ALL successful applicants.

What will the time commitment be?
Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

Delivery Notes

The Revit Architecture online course is delivered through your web browser. It will involve logging into our lecture delivery platform and also the use of our virtual learning environment, Moodle. These platforms are designed to be easy to use, and training videos will be provided. Lectures will be delivered online; the platform is very similar to Skype, with some additional functionality such as online 'chat'. Moodle will contain course materials, recordings of the lectures & demonstrations, as well as being the platform to submit your assignments for the course.

As a student of LIT, you will have access to the Academic version of Revit 2020. Please note that this academic version is not to be used for any commercial activities. Any files opened using the academic version will be digitally stamped by the software. You will require a computer (desktop or laptop) to undertake the course, which must have audio functionality. RPL Information

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted based on relevant experience and training in accordance with LIT's RPL Policy.

Application Procedures
