About this Course

The PG Certificate in Sustainability Leadership is designed to equip current and aspiring managers with a comprehensive understanding of sustainability principles and trends and apply evidence-based sustainability tools to decision-making and stakeholders buy-in to lead incorporation of sustainability practices into business to create a competitive advantage.

Module 1 (10 ECTS) Sustainability Principles & Impact Measurement - sustainability principles, UN SDGs, national & international policy, circular economy, social issues, environmental issues, social impact, impact measurement (Co2 emissions, ESG, TBL, B-Corp).

Module 2 (10 ECTS) Leading Sustainability – understand importance of sustainability in business, building a business case for sustainability, social purpose, social & responsible innovation, design thinking, building and nurturing sustainable culture, sustainable supply chain and operations, collaborative & growth mindset, authentic and responsible leadership & stakeholder buy-in strategies.

Module 3 (10 ECTS) – Applied Project – hands-on action-learning project that will be built around creating, leading and executing sustainability focused plan within own organisation or in collaboration with a client and supported by industry mentors.

Entry Requirements

NFQ Level 8 qualification or higher in a relevant area, or at level 6/7 with significant industry experience as per TU Dublin process. Applicants should have 3+ years work experience.

Long Description

Participants can expect to learn about sustainability principles and literacy (based on UN SDGs), environmental issues in sustainability, social issues in sustainability, the circular economy, measurement of impact (carbon footprint, ESG, TBL, B-Corp), business case of sustainability, social purpose and responsible innovation, collaborative partnerships and alliances, authentic and responsible leadership.

This exciting new programme directly addresses the requirements to develop sustainability knowledge, skills and leadership strategies to lead change within organisations in embedding sustainability principles into core business strategies. This will be critical in both attracting FDI and in strengthening indigenous SME offerings and scaling. Alongside developing sustainability knowledge and skills, the programme will develop core transversal skills such as social and responsible innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, analytical competence and most importantly leadership skills.

Timetable Info

Participants will have 5 hours of lectures per week in the first semester along with a calendar of cutting edge business seminars. The second semester is a self-directed applied project with briefing sessions alongside academic and industry mentoring.
