About this Course

As a Global Hub, Ireland is home to 430 Financial Services companies, including 20 of the Top 25 Global Institutions.
This programme is designed for people who work or wish to work in the Financial Services Industry and was specifically designed to meet the Central Bank of Ireland, Minimum Competency Code requirements. These are established minimum professional standards for individuals operating within the financial services industry with emphasis on people advising and managing consumers in respect of the pension, life assurance and investment products.

Delivered successfully since 2015, the programme was recently re-designed by the college's Graduate Business School in association with the Irish Institute of Pensions Management (IIPM) and the Financial Services industry to meet the changing employment requirements of the industry. Graduates of the programme also obtain professional recognition (MIIPM) from the IIPM in addition to their QQI award.
Key Benefits
 The programme is ideally suited to graduates from accountancy, business, finance, actuarial, consulting, human resources, insurance, law, mathematics and related disciplines who wish to advance their career in the financial, insurance, pension and investment sectors. The programme is also open to graduates of other disciplines, for example science, engineering or the arts.
 The programme was developed in consultation with the financial services industry.
 It is a professional designation that was specifically designed to meet the Central Bank’s Minimum Competency Code requirements (MCC).
 Graduates will also be awarded membership of the Irish Institute of Pensions Management (IIPM) and permitted to use the designation MIIPM (subject to application to the IIPM). This designation is supported by all the large industry players including the Pensions Regulator.
 The programme is delivered by experts from both the college and the industry.

The course will consist of online classes two or three nights per week for eight weeks per semester, as well as three in-person or online Saturday classes per semester.

Entry Requirements

Applicants for the programmes must hold:

• an NFQ Level 7 degree in a cognate area
or
• an NFQ Level 8 degree in a non-cognate area

Applicants who do not have either of the above academic qualifications, but who have professional qualifications in cognate areas and/or relevant professional experience, may apply for admission based on Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning. In that instance, individuals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis through Griffith College’s approved RPL procedures.

Professional qualifications is similar to be Accountancy, Actuarial, CFA (Investments), Certificated Financial Advisor. We also review those with 2 and 5 years’ experience see below.

Applications are also invited from learners holding the Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA, Level 7) award who have a minimum of two years of working experience in the financial services sector.

Other candidates, who do not have the requisite educational standards, but who have a minimum of five years of working in financial services, may also apply.

The industry is experiencing significant growth and is recruiting accordingly. This programme is designed for people who work or wish to work in Ireland’s large and growing Financial Services Industry.
This programme provides learners with comprehensive knowledge and competence relating to Life Assurance, Savings and Investment, Pensions and Retirement Planning, Retirement Funding and General Taxation. At a macro level is incorporates fields of Corporate Benefit Design, Operational Governance, Financial Risk Management, Financial Planning, Financial Regulation and Government Policy. The programme also develops students’ transversal skills in the areas of communication, written and oral, active listening, relationship management, problem-solving and business awareness.
Those undertaking the Certificate in Business Pensions, Insurance and Investment will gain a wide understanding of the financial services industry. The five modules cover an extensive range of core topics required to operate in the financial services industry, life assurance industry, the investment industry and the pensions industry.
Through the Certificate in Business in Pensions, Insurance and Investment you will have gained valuable professional experience, built a strong foundation of communication and presentation skills, and covered a diverse range of technical topics. There is a wide range of career options for our graduates in many areas of financial services.
On completion of the Level 8 Certificate in Business in Pensions, Insurance and Investment graduates may progress onto the H Dip in Pensions Management.
